Lexie Peterson

Hi! I am Lexie Peterson (@TheDivabetic),
I am a diabetes advocate and microinfluencer who shamelessly and unapologetically shares my highs and lows of life with diabetes. I want other diabetics to know that they are not alone and that it's normal to not have diabetes totally figured out. This is why I share more than just pretty photos. I share my truth, my tears; my entire life.

I was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes at the age of 10 so it feels like I have lived with it my entire life. I stumbled upon the DOC (diabetes online community) in early 2018 by pure accident. Towards the end of my college "career", I realized that most of my peers had no idea that I had diabetes. I thought about how many times I had been out with friends, with most of them not knowing about my diagnosis. I quickly realized how blessed I was to never have had a diabetes emergency but also how dangerous it would have been since very few of my peers knew about it. In late 2017, I decided to start sharing more about my life with diabetes on Instagram (because that's where I connected with everyone in college). By the time 2018 came around, I had connected with so many other diabetics and totally submerged myself into the DOC.
I have a heart for giving back to the diabetes community as well as sharing my expeirences support, advice, practical tips and reviews on products that could benefit the diabetes community.

I was also diagnosed with PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) in 2020 after many unsuccessful attempts to conceive. My husband and I have been sharing this journey ever since. I opted out of medicinal treatment for now and am currently trying to resolve this condition with a plant-based, whole foods lifestyle. I also focus heavily on organic and safe products in my home.

At the end of the day, I just want to live my life to the fullest; and I want to encourage others to do the same. I am not proud of my diabetes, but I am not ashamed either. My name handle "TheDivabetic" derived from the promise I made to myself to live my BEST life, regardless of diabetes. No diagnosis will conquer THIS diva!

God gave me the vision for The Sugarless Society to be space that is a resource for diabetic women. Where we can embrace diabetes as a life journey while connecting, encouraging, learning and building relationships with each other.
