I am Lexie Peterson (@TheDivabetic),

a diabetes advocate and recently a blogger. I shamelessly and unapologetically share my truth of life with diabetes to show others with this chronic disease that they are not alone.

I was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes at the age of 10 so it feels like I have lived with it my entire life. I have a heart for giving back to the diabetes community as well as providing support, advice and products that are affordable, fashionable and practical.

I was born and raised on the outskirts of Dallas, Texas, until I relocated to San Antonio, Texas, to attend the University of Texas at San Antonio (GO ROADRUNNERS!!). I received a B.B.A in Real Estate Finance and Development and after acquiring an investment property, I joined an amazing commercial real estate company, in which I serve the property management division.

While pursuing my career in commercial real estate, my teen passions of videography and photography have recently resurfaced. Upon the realization of the lack of trendy and affordable medical ID bracelets & advocates who look like me, I decided to dedicate my social media presence to my life as a diabetic & supporting others like me. This was the inspiration for Leauxmed Boutique ("Low" "Med", as in low-cost medical)

On a typical day in my life, you'd find me with my husband and dog or my closest girlfriends...usually singing karaoke, drinking wine, eating or taking a nap lol.

I just want to live my life to the fullest. I am not proud of my diabetes, but I am not ashamed either. My name handle "TheDivabetic" derived from my love of singing and my promise to never make it easy for diabetes to take over my life. Diabetes will not conquer THIS diva!

I established The Sugarless Society to provide a space for other diabetics to embrace diabetes as a life journey while connecting, encouraging and building relationships with each other.
