Sooo...I did a thing. I did a 5 day fast WITH FOOD. It's the ProLon Fast Mimicking Diet(discount code below).
Basically, it's a 5 day meal program where you only consume the foods that are provided with your meal box each day. The food in the meal boxes were scientifically created in a way so that your body does not recognize it as food. As a result, your body thinks that you are not eating and it is tricked into Ketosis, which is like a starvation mode that causes your body to breakdown your body fat to use as energy.
To my surprise, most of the food in each box was pretty dang good and I got full after almost every meal. You are not able to workout during the program because of the extremely low calorie intake...so yes, I lost 5lbs WITHOUT even working out!🤯 (Video below if you prefer watching over reading 😉)
Diabetes + Prolon:
I will say, that if you are diabetic, especially Type One, you should definitely consult your doctor BEFORE starting and during the fast, if possible. I actually had my Diabetes Coach (through the free trial of my One Drop digital membership) checking on me and seeing if we needed to make insulin adjustments almost everyday. I had some scary lows and I am grateful that she was there to help me navigate the necessary adjustments. (I talk about the diabetes-side of ProLon more in depth on my ProLon Youtube Video)
Okay so here is a breakdown of each day of the fast:
Day 1 - was the easiest for me because it was the only day that I consumed more than 1,000 calories. My blood sugars were very steady with little to no insulin (except when I ate the soups). My weight at the end of this day was 120lbs.
Day 2 - wasn't as hard as I thought it would be but this is when I had my first really low blood sugar. My glucose levels were steadily under 150 almost the entire day. My weight was 119.4lbs and body fat level of 38.5% at the end of the day. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling "off". My body temperature was 95 (which is kind of low), but a few hours later it was back to normal. not sure if it was related to the fast or not. My blood sugars were very steady with little to no insulin (except when I ate the soups)
Day 3 - early in the morning I decided to go get Ketone strips after feeling "off" the night before. I tested and my Ketone level was Moderate, meaning I was in Ketosis, the "fat-burning stage". As I continued to test throughout the day, my body was in and out of Ketosis with levels between A Trace and Moderate, which continued throughout the remainder of the fast. My blood sugars were very steady with little to no insulin (except when I ate the soups). My ending weight was 118.2 and body fat was 36.6%.
Day 4 - I got super hungry this day for some reason and I could not WAIT to eat real food again lol. My blood sugars were very steady with little to no insulin (except when I ate the soups). My ending weight was 117.2 and body fat was 35.3%.
Day 5 - at this point, my body actually seemed to have gotten used to eating the small portions and I wasn't really hungry most of the day. My ending weight was 116.8 and body fat was 35.8%.
Day 6 - my blood sugars were steady as if I was still on the fast. I only ate plant based whole foods. My ending weight was 116.0lbs and body fat was 37.6%.

I will definitely be doing this Prolon fast again, at least once a year. It has a made a tremendous difference in my blood sugars, even STILL today (5 days later). There are many health benefits and precautions to take note of, so please read EVERYTHING that is sent you in the box.
