BBQ Barbecue Sweet Chili Fried Cauliflower Wings

Ingredients

  • 1 large head cauliflower (cut into medium-sized florets)

  • 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup almond milk , unsweetened

  • 1 cup water , more if needed

  • 3 cups panko breadcrumbs

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (separate into two 1/2 teaspoons)

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder (separate into two 1/2 teaspoons)

  • 3/4 teaspoon Himalayan Pink salt , divided

  • 1 1/4 cups barbecue sauce OR Thai sweet chili sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450° F . Line a large baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.

  • Add Breadcrumbs, and ½ teaspoon ea. of Garlic, Onion, and ¼ teaspoon of Salt to bowl and stir to combine.

  • In a separate large bowl, whisk together the Flour and the remaining Garlic, Onion, and Salt.

  • Pour in Milk and Water and whisk to combine until batter is thickened. It should still be pourable. If not, add water by tablespoon until desired consistency is reached.

  • Place a 1/3 of Cauliflower to the bowl and toss to coat well. Lightly shake off excess batter of each piece and then coat with the breadcrumbs. Place on baking sheet (make sure no pieces are touching).

  • Place in the oven until golden and crisp (apx. 20 minutes). Flip over pieces at the halfway mark.

  • Remove from oven and brush each piece with sauce.

  • Place each piece back on the baking sheet (not touching). Bake for another 8-10 minutes to caramelize the sauce.

  • Enjoy!
